During my Administrative Internship, many conversations have occurred incorporating ideas or situations which have an effect on our schools. Some topics have included: Ferguson, Gun Control, and Social Media. Currently, public schools is facing tough economic times in relation to the current block funding grants. Our district currently anticipates the need to cut $22.7 million dollars for upcoming school year. A new report indicated our State has fallen short an additional $300 million dollars and more cuts to K-12 may be on the way. One bill indicates an additional $57 million dollar cut to education which may have more impact on our students. In addition to the cuts, our district will increase in square footage as our Bond Projects finish and the district is anticipating a 6-9% budget increase for utilities and other increases. I am currently working with my Principal to breakdown the budget information to assist in potential budget cut decisions for our building.
